Moonchild fans are going over the moon! The Moonchild fandom is not only thrilled about the release of Moonchild’s upcoming album, but they are doubly excited that the band announced the Waves Tour 2026 across the United States. This 28-date tour includes their much-awaited show in New York at the Irving Plaza on Wednesday, 1st April 2026.
Fans will surely be thrilled to hear new cuts from the "Wave" album live for the first time, like “Not Sorry” and “Ride The Wave”. Yet ripples of euphoria will spread through the crowd when the band performs a diverse mix of fan favorites and deep cuts like " The List". "For Yourself", "Back to Me", "Too Much to Ask", and many more! That’s how Moonchild connects with their audience – songs that embrace them with soulful bliss and foster a healing connection, keeping it raw, real, and truly relatable.
“Waves is about grief, healing, and growth — learning to find strength and meaning in the hard moments and remembering you’re not alone in them. It’s a reflection of what we’ve each been going through over the past few years, and how we’ve learned to move with life instead of against it,” Moonchild described in a press release. “Collaborating in person with so many incredible artists brought a whole new energy to the process — it reminded us how powerful music can be when you share space, vulnerability,y and creativity together.”
Band members Amber Navran, Andris Mattson, and Max Bryk were all students from the USC Thornton School of Music's Jazz Studies program. An invisible string has brought and is keeping them together as a band of fourteen years and counting.
Moonchild’s debut album “Be Free” was released in 2012. It was well received by music fans, but much to their surprise, music critics and notable music icons like Jill Scott, Stevie Wonder, and DJ Jazzy Jeff were also singing praises for them, which helped Moonchild establish a foothold in the alternative R&B and soul jazz scene. Moonchild has also reaped the fruits of their labor, as their 5th album, "Starfruit," achieved a Grammy Award nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album in 2023.
As Moonchild built their signature sound that kept nudging the boundaries of R&B-jazz and electronic music, they also staked their claim on the digital music landscape. NPR Tiny Desk Session is loading up over 6 million views, plus over 100 million plays on Spotify and Apple Music, and their video for "The List" has registered over 22 million views on YouTube.
