THE MAKING OF JUNIPER

Crookes’ new album is a journey through the pains she experienced over the past years. Marking her first full-length since her 2021 debut “Skin,” the singer shared that the record was a long time in the making, tackling her mental health challenges through the writing and recording process. 

“I was in the trenches… But the studio became my solace. What you hear is live and direct from that time.” — Crookes shared.

In a conversation with Cosmopolitan, she shares that the more music she makes, “the closer I get to who I am as an artist and Juniper is a reflection of that.”

Making it known that she’s here to stand up something, straight from her heart, Juniper draws from turbulent times in her life. Through raw and “ugly” healing as she wrestled with mental health, it’s an emotional, relatable, and vulnerable record that captured a heavy place in her life. With the album out now, it signifies her newfound hope, candid humor, and new perspectives in living life. Letting go of perfection throughout the process, she surely made something special.

“And I think for the first time ever in my career, and just as a person, I let myself go on this record,” she told BBC.
