Irving Plaza
Blind Guardian is taking all of their iconic tracks on tour in 2025, with this "Somewhere Far Beyond" road trip. Even casual fans of the band will get that reference! This is the name of their 1992 album, which includes pretty much all of the tracks that these Germans are most known for. Get ready for a metal concert mixed with Celtic vibes at Irving Plaza on Tuesday, November 25th.
The band is not making this NYC trip alone; in fact, they're bringing plenty of company. Ensiferum is set to be one of the opening acts; they're a folk metal band from Finland. Expect some similar Cetic beats paired with heavy guitar lines. They've got a new album out called "Winter Storm." You may want to give that one a listen so the tracks from the opening act don't seem foreign in late November.
Seven Kingdoms are also set to take the stage. They describe themselves as an "American Power Metal" band. Just a couple of beats into their intro, you'll get exactly why. They've got some tracks that can put you in the metal concert vibe that you're probably looking to reach. Blind Guardian is looking to turn back the clock with this tour. The name of it spells out their intentions. That's something that, as fans, you can completely appreciate. They're arriving at Irving Plaza ready to party like it's 1992, which is when Somewhere Far Beyond came out. Fans are going to line up in droves to be a part of this nostalgia-filled night. That being said, it's okay if you're not one of those fans who were rocking out to the album in the early '90s. There's something about this Celtic Rock vibe that makes it timeless. You're not only going to be able to enjoy the songs, but also the atmosphere that they generate in the crowd.
The tour name again gives away most of the setlist. You have to think that they'll play "The Bard's Song." They may even play that one in different versions. Then they'll come out with a serious question, "Time, What is Time?" Now, there are songs from the band that are super popular, but aren't from this 1992 album. "Mirror, Mirror" is the perfect example. Again, the tour is crafted to ensure that longtime fans of the band have a blast. You can be sure that they'll play at least most of the songs that you know and love.
There's technically only one way to guarantee a good spot at this venue, and that is arriving early. Sure, if you buy a ticket to the Loft or some of these other areas, you may have to deal with a smaller crowd. Yet, you're dealing with a crowd nonetheless. The best spots will be on the main floor right next to the stage. To get those, you need to buy a general admission ticket and get here early. There's no need to complicate things any further.
