The rest is still unwritten... The iconic British and New Zealand singer, songwriter, and record producer just announced a run of headlining shows across North America this year. Known as the pop powerhouse behind the 3x RIAA Platinum hit single "Unwritten", the queen is still amazed how popular the song is after two decades in music. Singing the track her whole life, Bedingfield also has a slew of other hits and fan favorites that she'll keep on the set at her live shows. This U.S. run marks her return to regular touring schedules, seeing that fans around the world can't get enough of her music that just hits the right spots. Witnessing a resurgence of her songs' popularity thanks to rom-com features and going viral on TikTok, it sure is amazing to see how the new generation gets to discover golden nuggets from the past. With a new fanbase who wants to hear more, she's heading out for headlining shows around the world, starting with the U.S. This fall, it's gonna be a poppin' ride through her hits, favorites, and deep cuts on stage.
Bedingfield took over the global stage when her debut album "Unwritten" came out in 2004. With up-tempo pop tracks and influences of R&B, people were instantly hooked on her groove. Selling over 2.3 million copies around the world, she was definitely a radio and CD favorite artist where everyone would simply blast the whole album. She received a Grammy nomination for the title track which is now awarded 3x Platinum by the RIAA. The record also served her #1 UK hit "These Words".
From then on, she hasn't stopped making music that speaks her heart out. Her second album "N.B." that came out in 2007 produced another set of UK top-10 singles, "I Wanna Have Your Babies" and "Soulmate". More of her succeeding hits include "Pocketful of Sunshine", "Love Like This", "Strip Me", and many more.
Her music has found a resurgence in popularity through the rom-com "Anyone But You" and going viral as a sound on a slew of TikTok videos. She noticed that her Spotify stats became dominated with 17-to-30 year-olds, and it's all thanks to the power of TikTok. With the timeless popularity of "Unwritten" causing another wave, "I guess I'm going to be singing it for the rest of my life," she told CBS News.
At the time she was writing the song with her friend, Danielle Brisebois, she recalls picturing a stadium, hoping that it's a song that'll make everyone sing along in packed arenas.
The singer also revealed that she's back to writing songs, "I'm finding it such a flow right now, which is so cool," she told CBS. Regularly performing at festivals, the crowd's energy as everyone sings along has inspired her to carry on.
