Irving Plaza | New York, New York
Watch Styles P as he blows the roof of the Irving Plaza this Monday, November 27, at his 49th birthday concert! Jadakiss, Brady Watt, and Smoke DZA will join our headlining act in this rip-roaring special event preceding the artist's "Respect My Legacy Tour." Styles P initially rose to mainstream prominence as a member of the iconic hip-hop group The Lox. And while he enjoyed success alongside his rap brothers, he yearned to explore his craft as a solo artist. Styles debuted with the Billboard US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums 2nd-place gold record "A Gangster and a Gentleman," which introduced chart-breaking hits "Good Times" and "The Life." Succeeding albums will prove his staying power across Billboard ranks, including "Time is Money," "Master of Ceremonies," and this year's "Penultimate: A Calm Wolf Is Still A Wolf." "Reflecting back on all of the albums and mixtapes he's released over the years, Styles may have one of the more underrated discographies in Hip-Hop, as he's consistently kept it raw for the underground and stayed true to his style the entire way."
Mr. David Styles, or Styles P as he came to be respected, is best known as one-third of The Lox hip-hop trio. Breaking off into his solo career, the artist debuted with "A Gangster and a Gentleman," a gold-certified album that claimed 2nd place in the Billboard US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and 6th in the weekly Billboard 200. It featured similarly chart-topping hits, including "Good Times" and "The Life." Styles would remain a mainstay in Billboard music rankings throughout his career, releasing "Time is Money," which played the powerful "G-Joint" track, "Super Gangster (Extraordinary Gentleman)," "Master of Ceremonies," and roughly a dozen more albums after. Earlier this year, Styles also dropped his milestone 15th studio album, “Penultimate: A Calm Wolf Is Still A Wolf.”
Joining our main act are three of his closest friends in the scene. Fellow Lox member Jadakiss is best known for his debut album singles "We Gonna Make It" and "Knock Yourself Out," while Brady Watt has contributed to several albums as either bassist or producer, including Talib Kweli's "Gravitas" and "The Seven." Smoke DZA, meanwhile, had just launched last year's "Full Court Press" collaborative album, featuring Girl Talk, Wiz Khalifa, and Big K.R.I.T.
