ABOUT LAUREN SPENCER-SMITH

Canadian singer-songwriter Lauren Spencer-Smith was born in Portsmouth, England, and raised on Vancouver Island.

 

CAREER

Spencer-Smith first came to public attention in 2019 when the video she uploaded of herself performing a rendition of Lady Gaga's single "Always Remember Us This Way" while driving in her dad's truck went viral. Since then, she has amassed more than 400,000 YouTube subscribers. After the video’s success, she released the 2019 album Unplugged, Vol., which was nominated for a Juno Award for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2020. 2020 also saw Spencer-Smith appear as a contestant on the 18th season of American Idol in 2020, placing in the top 20 in the competition.

In 2022, Spencer-Smith’s song "Fingers Crossed" reached the top 20 in numerous countries, including the US, and made the top 10 of the charts in numerous countries including Australia, New Zealand, and her native United Kingdom. The song went viral on TikTok, where it received more than 23 million views. "Flowers," her next single, went platinum in Canada, silver in the United Kingdom, and gold in the United States.
